Ok, wow! So, I went to the midnight showing of the Dark Knight last night and absolutely loved it! I was worried about it not meeting my high expectations, but it did. Going into Batman Begins, I had such low expectations, which were absolutely blown out of the water. This one was scary for me because I expected more, but it delivered.
Going to the midnight showing is a treat in itself. It just adds so much to the experience because you have so many freaks, geeks and weirdos there. There were all kinds of people there dressed up as the Joker or Batman. We had guys dressed up as Gordon and Alfred as well. But with Batman, you definitely bring out the darker crowd, which includes people wearing goth boots and goth costumes. You certainly don’t see people dressed up like this at the showing. These were hard core fans, and they love living in the deep darkness of the comic book world.
You’ll read it all over the internet, but Heath Ledger was outstanding. Of course there are the rumors of the role playing a part in his death, and his performance did nothing to squash that theory.
All in all, it is a great movie that you need to go watch!
Heath Ledger gave a new twist to the Joker. He turned the Joker from a nut-job to a straight-up psychopathic killer. The writers did an amazing job giving this new twist to the original Joker. Casting also has to be credited for picking the unlikely Ledger to play his first (and sadly, last) truly menacing role. Had he not died, this movie surely would have cemented Ledger as an actor of depth and true ability.
