Our Young Life kids, who live in an upper middle class community, have been going on all kinds of interesting vacations of late. Since we don’t take a break through the summer, we certainly notice when they are gone when it comes to attendance. However, we feel there is a lot of training to be done, so we don’t want to waste weeks.

Many of them have been going to the beach, in all parts of the world. Our kids just don’t go to Florida like the rest of the east coast. Their rich parents take them on exclusive excursions. Of course, when they get on the beach, they also don’t use sun tan lotion like the rest of us. One friend told me how their family buys sun protection suits and these for everyone in the family. Funny! Besides the beach, many have gone to Europe this summer – Spain, Paris and the like. Others enjoy a week at their lake house. One of my buddies even got to go to a Rodeo camp, where he learned how to do all kinds of stuff like rope calves and even bull ride. He brought home this sweet bull riding vest as a souvenir.

My wife and I haven’t gotten as fancy, but we are looking forward to a trip up to Indiana Dunes on Labor Day. We went there last year, and had a good time for not a lot of money!
