Military Beginnings

My brother in law is graduating from high school in a few days and is thinking of going into the military.  His goal is to become part of the Air Force airborne, but I don’t know if he can get in that elite group.  If not there, he is planning on being in the army infantry, so he can be on the front lines.  The kid wants to see action.  He’s got some friends who are in the military, and their stories have him all fired up.  He’s been around their guns and 5.11 tactical gear, and wants it to be a part of his lifestyle.

As you can probably imagine, his mom is worried sick.  I can’t imagine watching my baby who grew up in Thomas the Tank bedding going off to fight in a war.  It’s heartbreaking for her right now.  It doesn’t matter if he buys her nice gifts like this mom jewelry, she just wants him to be safe.  It must be both a blessing and a curse to be a mother.

Seems he is just not satisfied with life.  The kid definitely needs discipline.  He had trouble in school, and he mouths off to nearly everyone.  He’s going to get quite a wake up call with a drill sargeant yelling in his ear.  But it seems, that’s what he wants.  I honestly think he’s just searching for purpose because he doesn’t understand his original purpose.  My wife and I keep praying for him, and that God will keep him safe and eventually reveal himself to him.
