Last night was date night for my wife and I. We stayed home for dinner and made some bruschetta with our first batch of ripe garden tomatos, and it was awesome! Simple meal. Tomatoes, onions, oil, vinegar, bread and mozarella all combined to make a great meal. So, with the money saved on dinner, we got some Coldstone Ice Cream at the Levee and watched the Hangover.
Ok, so for my review. It is definitely a hilarious movie. Andy “Nard Dog” Bernard from the office was great. Also, the brother in law, Alan character, who was not really all there in the head, was hilarious. There were tons of great one liners and funny visuals. A lot of things you wouldn’t expect. The end of the movie was semi-porn, which was crazy and left my wife feeling sick. But all in all, it was really funny.
My biggest problem with the movie was its take on marriage. It’s not really just this movie, but most produced by Hollywood today. The message is always the same: Marriage is evil. You have to do it only because your wife makes you and it’s the next thing to do. And since your life is about to end in marriage, we need to have the biggest party ever, because life will suck from here on out. It’s beaten into young men’s minds over and over. When you get married, it’s all Super Why costumes, kids party supplies and a soundtrack of death that plays over and over again. Your freedom is gone. Your life is over. Now, you are a slave to marriage.
I hate this! But the message has been out there so much that this is the normal way of thinking now. Most men avoid responsibility and marriage like the plague. Instead, it’s how can I please myself as much as possible without taking on any responsibility. Wake up men! This began in Eden and we are still cursed with running from responsibility. Be a man. Grow a pair. And take on the mission that God originally gave us which was to be fruitful, multiply and have dominion over the earth.
Hollywood sucks at training men.
