This weekend was the much anticipated Order of the Ocho reunion. Let me explain. When I moved back to Cincinnati 6 years ago to work in the ministry of Young Life, a bunch of us were trained in Jesus’ style of incarnational ministry. That translated to single, college age guys moving into a house in the community where we were reaching out to students for Christ. 8 guys, thus our house, The Ocho was born. Over the years, there has been a lineage of this house, now reaching 18 men. So, this weekend, we all got together to reunite.
Over time, many of the 8 original have gone separate ways. A few our fathers now, and so they’ve entered into the world of diapers and Wiggles toys. We’ve taken on various jobs. There are firemen, electricians, medical workers and even salesmen of custom raffle tickets. Speaking of which, raffle tickets are a great way to raise money for a ministry or any non profit. People love prizes! But the common thread of us all is the same, we are seeking the King and his Kingdom.
We didn’t have a big plan for the reunion. After eating at a Chines buffet, we just hung out, had some good drinks, and a great game of Risk was played. But in all, it was just great to get everyone together.
